"NONO" TAVERN

The "Nono" tavern is located at the top of a typical winding street of the town of Jelsa, in the oldest part of the town, known as Banski Dolac.

It is only a short walk from the town's Pjaca (the main square) and the waterfront. The Tavern is an excellent example of a small family-run restaurant in which Margita and her husband Ivo Drinković pour much love and enthusiasm into every single detail of preparing the food and decorating their tavern.

Their offer includes beef tartare, scampi omelet, high-quality demersal white fish, veal and game. Homemade products, including vegetables, wine and olive oil, are used in the preparation of the food.

BLACK GNOCCHI WITH CUTTLEFISH

Ingredients:
1 kg cuttlefish
olive oil
2 onions
4 garlic cloves
50 g tomato paste
0.5 l white wine
salt and pepper to taste
parsley leaves
homemade gnocchi
fish stock
lemon juice

Method:
Remove the ink sack from cuttlefish. Clean and cut up the cuttlefish. Sautee diced onions in olive oil until golden. Add garlic and cuttlefish, salt to taste and sauté briefly. Add tomato paste and the ink. Add wine and cook until the cuttlefish is tender. Add homemade gnocchi and spices. Keep adding fish stock until the gnocchi are done, stirring constantly to keep from sticking. Finally, add a few drops of lemon juice.

 

OCTOPUS BAKED UNDER A BELL

Ingredients:
1.5 kg octopus
1 kg potatoes
2 onions
2 garlic cloves
herbs
1 dl olive oil
2 dl white wine

Method:
Clean the octopus and boil it in salted water for 15 minutes. Strain and bake under a bell with potatoes, onions, garlic and herbs. Bake for 45 minutes, then turn the octopus over, add white wine and bake for another 45 minutes.

HOMEMADE COOKIES



Ingredients:

60 g minced walnuts
150 g flour
1 tablespoon baking powder
5 tablespoons sugar
2 eggs
5 tablespoons oil
1 dl milk
200 g chocolate
1 dl cream

Method:
Mix walnuts, flour, baking powder and sugar. Add eggs one by one, oil and some milk to make a compact dough. Shape the cookies and bake for 10 – 15 minutes at 210 °C. Meanwhile, mix chocolate and cream over steam until smooth. Pour over baked cookies.
